Five reasons why you shouldn't skip Camping Centro Vacanze San Marino
In this article
Waking up on a hillside in Italy
Imagine holidaying in a luxury Desert Lodge from Lodge Holidays. You wake up well rested at Centro Vacanze San Marino, set in the middle of a nature park on the border of Emilia-Romagna and Le Marche. You stretch out on the spacious terrace with its outdoor kitchen and look out over the Rimini Riviera.
1. You sleep in the middle of a nature park
Centro Vacanze San Marino sits on a hill in a nature park, on the border of Emilia-Romagna and Le Marche. You're surrounded by green hills, looking out towards the coast. Our lodges stand on their own part of the campsite, well spaced apart, so you get plenty of privacy and a spot to yourselves.

Peaceful in the low season, lively in summer
In the low season, spring and autumn, this is a place for couples and those after some peace. In summer there's more than fifty hours of entertainment a week and the swimming pool is open, making the campsite just as suited to families. So you can choose the kind of holiday you have here simply by choosing when you come.

2. The oldest republic in the world is right round the corner
San Marino is the oldest republic in the world, a small independent country on and around Monte Titano. The medieval city walls, the three towers on the rock and the panoramic view over Italy are impressive. The city is eight kilometres away, around a twelve-minute drive, so it's easy to pop over for an afternoon.

3. The sea is close, the crowds aren't
The Adriatic coast is about a fifteen-minute drive away. So you can spend a day at the beach near Riccione or Rimini and head back to the peace of the hills in the evening. Because you're sleeping inland, it's usually a touch cooler than at the seaside, which really helps at night.

4. The Desert Lodge has everything you need
The Desert Lodges at this campsite are fully equipped with their own private bathroom, a spacious terrace and an outdoor kitchen. Twenty-five to thirty square metres, for five or six people. There's no air conditioning, but the canvas ventilates naturally and there's a fan provided. Up in the hills, that's exactly enough.

Or something more compact, in a Safari Lodge
Couples or small families often choose the Safari Lodge: twenty square metres for up to four people, from seventy-nine euros a night. Compact, but with the same outdoor kitchen and the same covered terrace. That terrace is what guests most often name as their favourite spot.

5. You don't need to leave the campsite for a great day
The swimming pool has a toddlers' section, a water slide and a small island with hydromassage, and is open from the end of May to the start of September. At the Garden Restaurant you eat Romagna dishes on a terrace overlooking the pool. There's free WiFi across the whole site.
How to get there
Rimini airport is fourteen kilometres away, a twelve-minute drive. Bologna is a hundred and twenty kilometres away, just over an hour. By car it's a long but straightforward drive through Germany, Austria and northern Italy. The supermarket is three kilometres away.
The practicalities
Check-in is from 3pm, check-out before 10am. Small pets are welcome on the campsite; do check the conditions first. Take a look at the campsite page to see which lodges are still available for the dates you're after, as availability here is limited.
Here you can choose between smaller pitches and, for a small extra fee, larger ones. There were still plenty of free pitches in mid-June. The free bus to and from the historic centre is perfect! Very friendly staff and the price is fine. Nice pool at the campsite with lots of shaded spots and sun loungers, just a shame about the blaring music by the pool in the afternoon — why so loud? Very irritating!
